Short answer: Book Occidental if you want a beach holiday, and Corniche if you want a central city base. In the Corniche Hotel Sharjah vs Occidental Sharjah Grand decision, that is the whole choice. Occidental has a private beach and a 2024 renovation. Corniche sits on Khalid Lagoon near Al Qasba and Al Majaz Waterfront, with bigger suites but older rooms. Both score 4.6 out of 5 on Tripadvisor.
- Pick Occidental for the beach on your doorstep, a kids’ pool with a slide, and optional all-inclusive rates.
- Pick Corniche for walkable dining and waterfront, lagoon or skyline views, larger suites, or a conference or event.

Location and getting around
Occidental is on Al Meena Street beside Al Khan Bay. The hotel’s own private beach is about a one-minute walk from the building, the public Al Khan Beach is about 7 minutes away, and Sharjah Aquarium is roughly a 12-minute walk. Tripadvisor marks it “car recommended.” It is a quiet beachfront base, not a walkable entertainment district.
Corniche is more central. Tripadvisor lists Al Qasba about 9 minutes away on foot, Al Majaz Waterfront about 12 and Al Noor Island about 13. The hotel faces Khalid Lagoon, a man-made lake with a waterfront promenade and gardens, so it suits guests who want to wander and eat out.
Both hotels are about 20 minutes from Dubai International Airport and roughly 22 to 24 minutes by car from Sharjah International Airport. Traffic changes these times.
Rooms
Occidental. The official site lists Deluxe City View and Deluxe Sea View rooms (32 m², up to three guests), the Cabana (45 m², up to four), a Junior Suite (55 m²), Deluxe, Executive and Family Suites, a Family Room (65 m², up to six) and a Presidential Suite (150 m²). Many rooms have a balcony facing the Gulf or the city. A complete renovation finished in May 2024, and connecting rooms are available.
Corniche. Superior, Premium Lagoon and Club Deluxe rooms are around 33 m². Junior Suites are 63 m², the Royal Suite 96 m² and the Executive Suite 117 m². The Family Lagoon Room is 66 m² across two interconnected rooms. A travel-trade listing shows the building dates from 2002 and was last renovated in 2011. Tripadvisor guests score Corniche’s rooms 3.8, its weakest category, against 4.5 for Occidental.
Verdict: Occidental for fresh standard rooms. Corniche for a mid-sized or large suite. Family rooms are about the same size at both (roughly 65 m²).

Cleanliness
Tripadvisor cleanliness scores are close: 4.6 for Occidental and 4.5 for Corniche. Occidental’s score rests on about 3,160 reviews and Corniche’s on 119, so Occidental’s is the more reliable number.
- Occidental: guests in August and September 2026 reported musty smells, mold in a shower corner, bathroom drainage problems and litter on the beach. Many other guests describe rooms as spotless and cleaned daily, and management replies to complaints.
- Corniche: one January 2026 guest found the room dusty and the cleaning thin. Guests from 2023 to 2025 describe clean rooms serviced daily, and one linked a damp smell to windows that do not open.
Neither hotel is spotless on every stay. If a room smells damp at check-in, ask for another one straight away.

Views
Occidental rooms have a balcony or terrace. Sea-view rooms face the Gulf and city-view rooms face Sharjah. A guest in a third-floor city-view room in September 2026 described a large balcony and good sunsets, so city view is not a bad deal.
Corniche has its best views on the top three floors, where Club Deluxe rooms offer a lagoon or skyline outlook and the Executive Suite sits at the top. A guest on the 14th floor praised the lagoon view. If you book Corniche, ask for a high floor on the lagoon side.
Verdict: Occidental for the sea. Corniche for the lagoon and skyline.

Rates
Prices swing by date, room and platform, and these figures were checked on different days, so do not compare them line for line.
| Corniche Hotel Sharjah | Occidental Sharjah Grand | |
| Tripadvisor partner average, standard room | $377 to $453 on one snapshot (high-demand dates); an earlier listing showed $183 to $419 | $104 to $224 (checked for October 4 to 5, 2026) |
| Published “from” rates | Around AED 220 per night (about $60) | Barceló’s US site: from about $93 (Deluxe City View) and $107 (Deluxe Sea View) |
Corniche shows low entry rates on some sites but higher averages on others, while Occidental’s rates look steadier. Occidental offers all-inclusive rates, and breakfast is not included in every rate. One August 2026 guest noted that water and soft drinks at lunch and dinner were charged separately on their plan.

Corniche Hotel Sharjah
- Pools and fitness: two outdoor pools described as temperature-controlled, a separate kids’ pool, a gym, and sauna and steam rooms. One February 2025 guest found the pools unheated, so ask if winter swimming matters to you.
- Beach access: no beach on site. Guests from 2023 to 2025 report a free shuttle to Al Khan Beach in the morning with a return around 1 PM. The hotel provides beach towels, and sunbeds and umbrellas are rented at the beach. This is the main practical gap versus Occidental.
- Dining: Mojo all-day dining, Shiraz (Iranian cuisine), Citrus and a lobby cafe. The hotel serves no alcohol, like every hotel in Sharjah.
